[Networker] Separating Index and Bootstrap Backups
2007-07-27 09:29:54
Hello,
Having a bootstrap on it's own tape has worked for me since mixing backup
server in other group often proved unrealible for generating timely
bootstrap, so i seperated the Pool & run the bootstrap last in the backup
cycle, since you only have one drive, you have a bit of an issue if the
backups of other servers\groups do not end by the time you want to run
bootstrap group.
I think depending on your enviroment\backup size\server count, it may help
to add addtional drive for failover and help with scheduling, you are
perhaps better off investing in one of the 2U drive silos, that hold
couple of drives and few slots ( i dont think they cost whole lot more
then standalong drives) that way canging the tape etc is not a problem.
If you can use disk backup and staging that may give you even more
flexibility, but again it's all what your company is willing to pay for.
