Hard to tell without a bit more information. How many of your tape
drives are in use during the backup?

2 are in use.

 How many sessions are being
written?

8 sessions are being written.

What is the observed write speed on each drive?

10 mb/sec, sometimes upto 15, but usually 10.

What is the parallelism setting for the client?

it is set to 8 for parallelism.

So, each client session does 2.5Mb/s. In theory, increasing client parallelism is the answer, but:

. It may be impossible for the client to run that many sessions, because of the way the agent works.

. Running too many sessions might degrade performance because the sessions will compete on some resource (memory, I/O bandwidth) and starve each other.

The conclusion is that you don't seem to have any bottleneck with the Networker server.

I suggest that you will change client parallelism. I would check with 10 sessions and 6 sessions and see how it changes performance.
