You can't really change the label on a tape and maintain the data.
Writing to any tape device usually makes any later data on the volume
inaccesible.  Since part of the tape label is at the front of the tape,
it can't be overwritten without destroying the data.

I would recommend creating a new tape with the format you want, then
using nsrstage or nsrclone to copy the data to the new tape.  Then you
could destroy the original and label it how you want.
