Can't answer the throttling issue, per se, but, we have noticed that
NetWorker does not like auto-negotiate on the NIC card, it needs to be
set to full duplex on whatever the speed of your network is.

There is no per-client bandwidth limit, but you can limit the number of
sessions. You can limit on each client, and/or each group. You can also
control the server parallelism as well. I don't know the 7.3 gui so I
can't tell you where the settings are, but I'm sure the group can.

You may also want to look into setting up ethernet flow-control on both
the backup server and/or switch. Also, gigabit ethernet is almost a
minimum now for backup servers given the explosion of disks.

We are running nw_7_3_2_jumbo.Build.11 on Solaris. We've noticed that
several of Networker clients running Solaris IPMultipathing report the
following during backups:

Cannot meet requested failure detection time of 10000 ms on (inet
bge0) new failure detection time is 20482 ms

We suspect that the 100Mb/s ethernet connection is being saturated
during the backup. We don't mind if the backup takes longer. Is there a
way to impose a per-client bandwith limit?

Cheers,

Paul
