Re: [Networker] VTL/Dedup

In our case we looked at VTLs very long and hard and decided that it
wasn't for us. We even had the budget approved for it.
Our backups would have looked like
data-->VTL-->disk-->VTL-->Tape and Clone the important stuff
rather than
data--->disk and/or Tape and Clone the important stuff
The VTL, while a nice to have, just didn't make a whole lot of sense
for us when we have to keep data forever. Well, at least 10 years and
counting ;-)

Thanks for the response.
I'm kind of surprised at the limited number... and I'm not sure whether
that means very few Networker installs are using VTLs or DeDup
technology, or if people are just to busy to reply:-)
Anyone else have any real world experience they can share shed light on
VTL and/or Dedup?
Thanks!
Joel
