Hello,
Now 20 hrs is long but in purely archving mode is not so bad, seperate the 
pool on Networker side to keep the date confined and so your offsite tapes 
make it out of the date center in time.
Secound, experiment with Compreson if possible on client defination to see 
if throughput improves.
Third, attempt Disk based backup pool ( or VTL) for this device to realise 
any addtional improvment.
