I find it easier to simply make the tapes as read only in the
NetWorker admin gui or via nsrmm. There are several benefits to doing
this way instead of flipping the right protect tab on the physical
tape medium. First, when you change the tape's write protect tab,
NetWorker does not know anything about it, so it can still attempt to
mount that tape for writing, although it will fail. Second, you have
to go to your tape library, locate the physical tape, then make the
change to the write protect tab. If you mark the tape as read only
from within NetWorker, it will not even bother mounting the tape for
write purposes and when the recover is done, all you need to do is
reverse the command or make the change via the NetWorker Admin GUI
from the comfort of wherever you may be at the time.
