Patti,

I've created groups for most of my clients that contain only the client.
That way I can start and run a backup of only that client with the
parameters I want.

Another possibility is if you enter the "save" command from the command
line you can specify the pool in the command line. Maybe you could
write a script to make that easier.

Hope this helps, Dave

Subject: [Networker] Designating a tape pool for adhoc backups

I'm stumbling around in a new area. We are adding Windows clients to
our *nix backup system for the first time. I have scheduled backups
working, but for the first time I will have some clients who will need
to be able to initiate adhoc backups. Right now all of my custom
parameters, scheduling, media pool, etc are handled at the group level.
I've added the client name that I'm testing to the specific media pool,
however, the backup is still dropping into the Default pool. I've
looked all through the admin guide and I'm not clear on where to hook
the client to the designated media pool for adhoc processing. Any help
is appreciated.
