Yes, you can, but the version of Legato Networker for SQL is a key part
of the question. 

If you are running some of the older versions of Legato SQL, you can't
do a directed recovery of Named instances of SQL.  

Since you are on version 5, and it doesn't sound like you are talking
about named instances, you are ok.

Hi,

Directed Recovery is possible from a different host.

You need to open the SQL Module interface, select Restore->CopyOf and
select
the name of the other server to recover from.

Hi,

Am i correct in understanding that recovery of a mssql database cannot
be done to a different host. ( like the directed recovery of
filesystems)

I tried to find this in the admin manual (version 5.0) of the mssql
module. Someting like SQL instance is supported in clusters it seems
but that is not what I am looking for.
