[Networker] Migrating to a different architecture - indexes and media database gone - SOLUTION
2007-01-25 06:12:18
Hi,
I recently posted a question about migrating Networker from Solaris
SPARC to Solaris AMD (big-endian<>little-endian (or is it the other way
around) so this is regarded as a different architecture). I found a way
to migrate the indexes and media database without having to reread all
tapes. I guess it might be interesting to other people too so here is
the solution:
Problem:
* Migrating Networker to a different archictecture by copying the /nsr
directory seems to remove the client indexes and media database (indexes
are empty and no tapes show up in the media database)
In my case:
source: Solstice Enterprise Backup 6.x on Solaris 8 SPARC
destination: Legato Networker 7.3.2-b11 on Solaris 10 AMD
Solution:
on the source server run:
/usr/lib/nsr/nsrmmdbasm -s /nsr/mm/volume6 > savemdb
on the destination server run:
nsrmmdbasm -r -2 < savemdb
Access the server via the java console: all indexes and tapes are
available again!
