There are 10 drives and the message appears when attempting to mount a tape on
each of the drives. The library does not have tapes in all drives when I am
attempting to mount a tape. I'll try to find out if there are any processes
locking the drives on the OS.

  Thanks

Sounds like this is in use by something else. Try running an sjirdtag against
the jukebox from the system which controls the robot arm. My guess is that
there's already a tape in there. Either that or there's another process which
is reserviing the drive other than the nsrmmd process. You should be able to
check this (I think) using "fuser /dev/rmt/c16t5d0BESTnb" from the HP box in
question. This will give you the PID of the process using the drive. However,
that's just one of the links for this drive. Might be better off running

for i in $( ls /dev/rmt/c16t5d0* )
do
echo $i
fuser $i
done

That will tell you if there are any processes locking the drive on that system.
The alternative is that another system has the drive reserved (if it's a SAN
drive).

HTH,

Stuart.

The enable attribute is set to yes. I have checked this. I wonder is it
possible that the GUI is not reflecting the correct setting. Is there a way of
checking that a device is enabled from the command line.

Hi,

Using NetWorker Administrator GUI, select appropriate device and edit it, the
"Enable" attribute should be set to "Yes".

Tape devices have been added using 7.3.2 storage node scan and then added to
the existing library using the wizard. Wizard appears to locate all tape
devices correctly and all shared tape devices have matching serial numbers.
Correct number of nsrmmd processes are running on storage node.

When I attempt to mount a tape to the HP-ux storage node device I receive the
following error almost immediately - error message: "Device
rd=server1:/dev/rmt/c16t5d0BESTnb' is not available.";

Any ideas to the cause of this? thanks
