1. How many systems do you backup with Networker? 150+

2. How many Networker Servers (Zones) do you support? 3

3. How many TB's of data do you support? 7+

4. How many storage nodes / tape devices / libraries ? 8+ storage nodes
/ 3 tape libraries, 2 are SAN attached with storage nodes for each major
SAN client. Each SAN attached tape library has 8-12 LTO2 drives. One
is HP and the other is ADIC.

5. How many full time FTE are dedicated to supporting legato? (please
use percentages if partial FTE, for example .5 Windows FTE + .5 Unix
FTE). There is no FTE for backups but I would say .5 Windows FTE and .5
Unix FTE. When the system all works well (which is most of the time) I
probably spend 10% of my time on backup related duties and I would say
that same is true for the Unix System Admin. There are a total of 7
System Admins.

6. If you do have FTE's assigned to backups what are their job titles?
We all have the same title of System Administrator

7. How is backup monitoring/reporting handled within your organization,
centrally through data center or decentrally through systems
administrators? Centrally to a Public Folder for all admins to view.

8. What operating systems are you supporting for servers/storage nodes
and clients? Windows 2003, and Unix.

9. How many application specific backups do you provide and what type?
(e.g. Exchange, Oracle, Etc) Exchange

10. Who makes sure your backups work on the weekends and vacations?
One of the System admins and / or operators monitor backups and scripts
are setup to email when a backup fails over the weekend so it can be
picked up.

Hi Legato Listserve

This isn't a legato/networker specific question .... But, how is your
organization structured for Backup/Storage Staffing. I'm trying to get
an idea of how other organizations deal with the storage/server growth
phenomenom - and any information you can provide would be most
appreciated. Just so we are talking apples and apples - if you could
answer these questions. I know this is a repeat from 2002 - but things
have changed a bit in the last 4 years.

1. How many systems do you backup with Networker?

2. How many Networker Servers (Zones) do you support?

3. How many TB's of data do you support?

4. How many storage nodes / tape devices / libraries ?

5. How many full time FTE are dedicated to supporting legato? (please
use percentages if partial FTE, for example .5 Windows FTE + .5 Unix
FTE)

6. If you do have FTE's assigned to backups what are their job titles?

7. How is backup monitoring/reporting handled within your organization,
centrally through data center or decentrally through systems
administrators?

8. What operating systems are you supporting for servers/storage nodes
and clients?

9. How many application specific backups do you provide and what type?
(e.g. Exchange, Oracle, Etc)

10. Who makes sure your backups work on the weekends and vacations?

Thank you in advance for your input.
