Could you please move this discussion to a different site. It's like

I disagree. We're not so much Networker "drivers" as we are backups
professionals, and it's a good idea to know what the other products
are up to (example, what amanda can/cannot do wrt previous versions.)
The questions "bacula vs networker" fits here, and I don't mind seeing
that discussion fleshed out.

I wouldn't expect the GM sales guy to talk-up the Civic, but this list
isn't run by EMC, and that's one of the things that makes it so good.
If you and I are browsing through the dealership together, I'd hope
you'd steer me towards the Civic if it fit my needs better.

But, I think it's Stan's call. I know I've been guilty of talking up
other backups products recently.

Since you asked ...

I have reading the Bacula postings. I have no problem with Bacula being discussed further. I hope the people at EMC who are subscribed to this list are paying attention to what's being said about Bacula and other non-EMC backup products here. This is especially true for any EMC product managers who may or may not be subscribed.

There is much to be learned by discussing products that compete with NetWorker, especially for the EMC people who are subscribed here. I guess I should also remind everyone that anyone is free to subscribe to this list, including EMC personnel, and quite a few are subscribed. I should also point out again that some of EMC's competitors' employees are also subscribed to this list. So, the EMC people can learn from what is said here to make the NetWorker product better in future versions , but EMC's competitors might also learn about how to make their products more competitive with NetWorker. It goes both ways.

So keep up the good work!
