Remove from the media database? Like with 'nsrmm -d -S <ssid>'?

Certainly the index for any files associated with that index are purged
at the same time.

I assume that removing a link from an incr chain may leave you without
necessary files.

If you remove the last 'incr', then no problem. The next run will
simply reference the timestamp of the last backup still in the database.

If you remove one in the middle then you have issues. Future incrs will
still only reference the timestamp of the last backup. So if a unique
copy existed only on the one you removed, there's no way for the save
process to know that. It won't back it up.

Remember that 'save' is only passed a timestamp.

Nevertheless, I think that would be required.

Another thing to do would be to delete any savesets that depend on the
deleted incr (all the ones after it). At that point, the next backup
would have a reference timestamp of a saveset that was still on tape, so
you'd be able to get to a consistent point without a full.

That would probably work as well.
