Hi,
I got your mail id from the Networker mailing list at https://listserv.temple.edu. Sorry to write to you directly, but I am very new to the world of Networker and there is no one to help / guide me. So I see your advise. This is what the scenario is: Server OS: Solaris 8
  Networker: Solstice Backup server 6.1
Tape: HP Sure Storage 4/40 with autoloader Now, my doubts are: Solstice is running on UNIX. I am not unix admin and I think I should move it to a Proliant server running Windows 2003 server configured with RAID 5 so that even if there is HDD failure, I can swap the HDD and the raid will build by itself. I have licenses for 10 clients. What would be the best way to do this.

I will answer this question:

First of all: Solstice is an OEM Legato from sun. So you cannot switch
the operation system without enormous costs (you have to buy emc
networker which will cost the same as solstice already did).

Second: Believe me - you dont want to run networker on windows.
As already discussed on the list networker runs much faster on
UNIX (no - i dont want to start a UNIX vs. Windows flame)

Third: Never change a running system! (If you move the legato to
windows and reconfigure everything there is a realistic chance
nothing will work afterwards; especially if you are "new" to networker)
