With Networker 7.1 you should be looking at DSA backups for the NetApps
rather than NFS. With DSA, you can keep the drives attached to your
Networker Server and/or Storage Node. The streams are parallel and are
treated like any other NetApp backup.  I would recommend a seperate VLAN
and separate interfaces for the backups including tweaking the backup
servers TCP/IP settings and running Jumbo frames, but even if you don't,
it should be better than NFS backups.

DSA is built-in to Networker (although you have to have NDMP client
licenses).

Well, my indexes were for just a single client, since we're backing up
NetApps with billions (well, it seems like billions!) of files.  So we
do it over NFS.  Not ideal, and we need to re-think, but it works for
now.

And it does scale alot better than it used to under 4.x and 5.x
stuff.  Those versions seriously sucked when indexes got too big.
