That would probably be because GUIs have not got any way of scheduling
regular reports, or triggering alerts based on reports, or some API type
access for more complex interactions......   Unless there's something
you can do via SQL against the nmc database?

You can use nsradmin, as it I just a resource directly structure.

Interesting as to why the GUI just doesn't cut it?

I haven't worked with 7.3 much, but it appears that in addition to the
mediadb and file indexes, there's now some sort of jobsdb.  

While there's no tools that I can see to do it (and the term "opaque" is
used in the docs), has anyone tried to pull data from it?  I'd love to
be able to query historical job info.  (And going into the GUI to do it
isn't going to cut it).
