Yes, I mean the entire path, including the file name and all foldersand subfolders. A path length of 255 characters or greater is a dealbreaker for Windows.

A few months ago, I had a similar situation where someone could notopen an MS Word document, so they tried to recover it from backuptape. The recover failed. I tried to create a file with a long pathname, just as an experiment and it failed on XP and 2003 and theyboth failed. I used a Mac workstation with OS X 10.4 to also create afile with a long path length and it had no problem with 500characters. I tried to zip the folder at the base of that long pathname and unzip it on Windows and it would not let me.

So your question reminds me of something I am curious about, how canWindows files with long path be created in the first place?
