If you are using software compression or even compression on the server that 
may be your problem. For compression set up the tape drives to compress the 
data. If adta is compressed on the server, it will be uncompressed before it is 
sent to your backup server, or at least that is my understanding.

Upgraded to Spectralogic T120 jukebox LTO3 drives and still getting
23M/second write speeds.  Less than half of expected.  Cloning is at
about same speed (up to a whopping 32M/second).

Is this what others are experiencing - or more correctly, what am I
missing? 

Just spent lots of dollars with the main interest being of decreasing
time of backups and it's not happening. Doh!
