My understanding is that you can't back down from 7.3 -> 7.2 due to a
rebuild of the media database that is incompatible with 7.2. Page 23
of "NetWorker, Release 7.3, UNIX and Linux Version Release Notes" in
section "Installation and Update Notes" you can read:

"Cannot Revert to a Previous Release After Updating to Release 7.3

As long as you still have a bootstrap from 7.2, you could go back,
but it would be painful.  You would need to

- use mminfo and possibly other tools to make a note of
        - all tapes that have been recycled since your 7.2 bootstrap
        - all tapes that have had any savesets written to them since 7.2.

- uninstall 7.3.
- remove or rename the media database directory
- install 7.2.x
- perform a disaster recovery, as documented in the disaster recovery
  guide (mainly mmrecov).
- reinventory your jukebox(es).
- delete all tapes from the recovered database that were recycled after
  your 7.2 bootstrap (the point in time you've essentially recovered to).
  This step probably isn't necessary, but will likely save networker
  some confusion down the road.
- scan (either with -m or -i, depending on your needs) all the tapes
  that were written after the 7.2 bootstrap was taken.

At that point, you should be back to 7.2.x and NetWorker should know about
all the savesets that were written after the point in time you recovered
to.
