Hello Stan,

You are actually looking for the Virtual Server name -- a proper noun.

Look in Cluster Administrator, under Groups. A Virtual Server is a special
type of Group that has settings appropriate for the Exchange Environment.
Once you select a Virtual Server under Groups, the right side pane of the
view will include many of the Virtual Server attributes, e.g. "Exchange HTTP
Virtual Server Instance - (NORTHPOLE)" where the name in parentheses will be
the Virtual Server again.

You can also find references to Virtual Servers in the event log at Exchange
startup time (even on a non-cluster, where the Virtual Server name is the
local system name).

Thanks,
_Scott

Thanks. The name of the Exchange service node is in our active
services directory, but I have tried every permutation of IP address,
hostname, clustername, etc. No go.

Scott Bingham's suggestion of trying a bios name is probably the only
one I didn't try yet. I wasn't aware that a cluster service has a
bios name. How would I identify that bios name?
