Hi Networker folks,

I need to recover some indexes, and after reading archived posts
here and the scanner & nsrck man pages I gave it a try:
1) scanner -m -S 69889537 /dev/rmt/0cbn
   (seemed to run OK)
2) nsrck -L7 -t "02/04/05" entropy.corp.opsware.com
(prompts me for a tape with date from 2003! ?)

I must be doing something wrong but can't figure it out.
Here's the details of what I did.

-------------------------------------------------------

** NW version is 6.1.4, server is Solaris 8

From full backup media of interest I found a full index
backup of the client from the desired date.

Verified that the SSID contains the index needed
------------------------
mminfo -q 'ssid=69889537'
volume client date size level
        name

100209 ~legato.corp.opsware.com-1 02/04/05 26 GB full
        index:entropy.corp.opsware.com

100211 ~legato.corp.opsware.com-1 02/04/05 7341 MB full
        index:entropy.corp.opsware.com

Scanned the tapes
-----------------
# scanner -m -S 69889537 /dev/rmt/0cbn
scanner: scanning 8mm AIT-2 tape 100209 on /dev/rmt/0cbn
scanner: 8mm AIT-2 tape 100209 already exists in the media index
scanner: ssid 69889537: NOT complete
scanner: ssid 69889537: 26 GB, 988 file(s)
scanner: done with 8mm AIT-2 tape 100209

scanner: the following save sets continue on 100211:
client name save set save time level size files ssid S
~legato.corp index:21e0906f-00000004-3d63dab0-3d63dfa9-02b50000-c0a80226 2/04/05 18:07 f 26939381248 988 69889537 S scanner: when next volume is ready, enter device name (or `q' to quit) [/dev/rmt/0cbn]?
scanner: starting file number (or `q' to quit) [2]?
scanner: starting record number (or `q' to quit) [0]?
scanner: continuing scan with tape on device `/dev/rmt/0cbn'
scanner: scanning 8mm AIT-2 tape 100211 on /dev/rmt/0cbn
scanner: 8mm AIT-2 tape 100211 already exists in the media index
scanner: ssid 69889537: SYNCHRONIZED at 26 GB, 988 file(s)
scanner: ssid 69889537: scan complete
scanner: ssid 69889537: 33 GB, 1433 file(s)

Then ran nsrck per the instructions
-----------------------------------

# nsrck -L7 -t "02/04/05" entropy.corp.opsware.com
nsrck: checking index for 'entropy.corp.opsware.com'
nsrck: The file index for client 'entropy.corp.opsware.com' will be recovered.
nsrck: Recovering index savesets of 'entropy.corp.opsware.com' from 'legato.corp.opsware.com'

... which then proceded to ask me for a completely different
volume number from 2003! In the nsrwatch window, I get this:

"04/25/06 09:52:46 nsrd: media waiting event: waiting for 8mm AIT-2 tape
 103781 on legato.corp.opsware.com"

Is my nsrck command wrong?

Regards,

 - michael
