I should clarify, I didnt want the saveset in the file index or the media 
database, so as to prevent it being recovered via saveset recovery. The 
saveset was marked as aborted prior to being removed.

Interesting.  Aborted backups are normally marked for expiration (E)
immediately and the file index is always purged on such savesets.  You
shouldn't have had to do anything to free the space.

Did the saveset show 'expired' prior to removing the file index?  Does
it appear any different now?
