Ah, yes, I seem to recall experimenting with that at one time. I assume that the index and bootstrap would be two separate entries.

One thing that always made me nervous about this method, though, is that all the client indexes and bootstrap will go to this pool, tying up a drive. I guess I could control that by also selecting the server's group, but this might create long waits for the server when all the drives are in use during fulls. I could dedicate a drive, but I hate to do that. Maybe moving the server's group start time would resolve this. But the other thing about this method is that all the server's indexes and bootstraps end up on one tape for a long time before moving to the next tape. As it is now, they move around between different tapes labeled into the appropriate pool, so if I lost a tape, I might have a recent index on another one. I could clone, I suppose, but kind of a pain. With our older version of NetWorker, automatic cloning often causes problems (device or resource busy, and SCSI bus resets), but manual cloning, wherein I manually mount all the required tapes first and then run the clone command, works just dandy. We do plan to upgrade.

Thanks.

You can try making a new pool and label a media from the storage node to
this pool. In the pool definition, use the column Save Set and enter INDEX & BOOTSTRAP
there. It should save index & bootstrap to this pool now.

Is it possible to have the primary backup server's index get written to a storage node?

We have a tape library attached to the server. It writes its data to the storage node, but its index always gets written to the local tape drives. We'd prefer to use only storage nodes, no local tape library.

Thanks.
