What happens when you increase the number of sessions per drive? Or
increase the server's parallelism. I've found dramatic improvement in
drive speed when even a couple of more sessions are running. Maybe not
too good, though, for faster recovers, but would be an interesting test.
Have you tried running fulls?
I've seen problems in past where full versus half duplex was the
culprit. Check the switch. Might be hard coded. Typically, though, when
I've seen that problem the speed was way less than 3 MB/sec.
