Are you referring to Rational Clearcase here?

If so, we are just doing a FULL (scheduled/group) backup of the
D:\ClearCase_Storage directory without shutting anything down. We have
restored this directory and built a 'test' environment from it for a
pending upgrade to Clear Case.

Don't know if that sheds any light...the savegroup completion can be
emailed to the admin.

As I said in my previous append clearcase backups are just file or
filesystem backups. As also said earlier there is no record of the
"backup command". In your case, you should from a script, at a
predefined time, close the database and create a "named" snapshot on the
Netapp. Once both steps completed properly you should invoke from same
script the NDMP backup with a request to backup the "named" snapshot. In
this situation, clearcase backup is successful only when and if the NDMP
backup of the "named" snapshot properly completed. Itzik

I had a look at the savepnpc, and the problem is that the clearcase vobs
are stored on a netapp file server. The backups are done via ndmp.
Therefore as my understanding of the savepnpc command, the legato server
contacts the client to run the pre and post commands. However as the
client in this case is not an active legato client, it cannot complete
the commands. So rather than doing this, I script the closing and
opening of the clearcase vob from the legato server before asking the
ndmp client to backup the saveset.

What I am getting at, is there a way of confirming the script or command
used to carry out the actual backup of a saveset, as I can use this as a
flag to indicate it the saveset was of a clearcase VOB or not ?
