I have a strange problem with our storage node (HPDL385) running the
32bit Linux version of Networker 7.1.4 and 32bit RH Enterprise Server 3.
Attached to the storage node are a Quantum dx30 emulating a Quantum
PL1000 with 3 DLT7000 tape drives directly attached via FC and a
SCSI-attached HP LTO-2 tape drive inside a STK L20.

The main backup server is a SunFire 280R running Networker 7.1.2 on
Solaris 8.

When I try to clone save sets from the dx30 to the L20 networker loads
the first "tape" into the dx30 and clones the save sets as expected.
The strangeness begins when the next tape is required for reading.
Networker spawns an nsrjb process which blocks and does nothing. An
strace of the nsrjb process shows that it is trying to read from
/dev/sg1 which is the robotics arm of the L20. I have tried to move the
robotics arm of the L20 to a separate scsi controller but the symptoms
are the same.

Has anyone seen annything like this or (even better) a suggestion how to
fix it?
