Fellow Networker geeks,
I have a Dell PowerEdge server fro my backup server with:
LSI 22320R SCSI adapter (flashed the BIOS to make it function just like an
ordinary HBA card)
ADIC Scalar 100 tape library
2x IBM LTO-2 tape drives
The O/S is running on Red Hat ES3 kernel v2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp.
I'm having some intermittent tape read and positioning errors, so I did this
according to Tech. support from each vendor:
Applied the latest firmware (53Y2) for the RMU, tape library and tape drives.
(ADIC)
Applied the latest firmware for the LSI HBA. (LSI)
Made the necessary adjustments in the stinit.conf. (Legato)
And according to Red Hat support I should apply also the IBM drivers (IBMTape)
from IBM which is different from the tape drive firmware. Based on your
experience/setup, is it really necessary to install this driver?
I have already applied these suggested fix, the tape read/position still exist,
is there anything else that I missed?
thanks in advance,
Librado Pamintuan
