Agreed. The retention just determines when NetWorker will permit
itself to re-use the media.
Whether the media is still re-usable at that point is another
question entirely...
As you say, regular migration is the current solution to the problem,
inefficient though that might be.

That's another discussion. It's fairly obvious that techonology will
have changed radically by then, and any data that needs to be kept
really long term will end up being migrated from one format to
another - many times.
In any case, the retention of a save set is academic - it's not
written to the tape. It can be changed at any later date.
