First of all let me congratulate you on surviving Katrina (my daughter's
name too)!
Now...FYI, the tapes are not wiped or relabeled on auto-pilot. They are
listed as "recyclable".
One way I might handle this:
Power up the Legato Server, but do not power up the tape library or
disconnect the library from the SCSI chain.
Then stop all of the backup groups on that server from running. The way
I understand it the index files are kept both on the Networker Server
and on the tapes.
If the tapes are in the library when you check the index and it is past
your browse/retention time. Your tapes will be "recyclable" but if all
backup operations are Stopped they will NOT be recycled.
