OK, So I am a storagetek sort of person, but i did a bit of research for
you.... firstly from google i found that the Dell PV 136T is essentially a
rebranded version of ADIC scalar 100 tape library, so...

http://www.adic.com/us/collateral/omS100UsersGuide.pdf

So, if it works the same as the ADIC one does you have a choice of using the
door slots as mailbox or having the slots as storage. If you set these slots as
storage the mailbox door will always be locked... and you will have 60 slots
available, which is what you have told us is the case.

from the user guide ....

Path: Main Menu > More > Setup > Utils > Config
1 From the main menu, select More. Select Setup and then select Utils. Select
Config.
2 Using Yes/No, Next, and Change, set the following fields:

* Mailbox - Determines whether the mailbox will be used to import and export
tape cartridges or if
the mailbox will be used as storage slots.
* Imprt/Exprt - Indicates the mailbox is for importing or exporting tape
cartridges.
* Storage - Indicates the mailbox is for storage.

3 Select OK.

so - if you find you need to change the mailbox settting then what you will
have is logically a very different jukebox and you will have to reconfig in
legato..

I would suggest firstly you configure the library's auto-clean function, it
makes more sense than having legato do it as it will only happen when the
drives need cleaning if the library manages it.

once all the library changes are done, the easiest way to reconfigure legato is
to completely remove the definition of the jukebox, and also remove the tape
device definitions, then use device autoconfiguration to discover your library.
if asked, say 'No' to cleaning.

After this your legato config should match the real state of the library.

Let me know if this helps, it's 90% guesswork on my part, so sorry if it is
somethign you have already tried.

Thanks for your answers. I am happy somebody else has this kind of tape
library. I couldn't resolve the problem yet.

If I do what you told me (I had tried that before but didn't look at the
value of the variables of the sensor information)

Main menu -> Service -> Library -> Diags -> Sensors
Lock/Unlock to lock and unlock the Mailbox
 Cancel

I get the following:
first the variables IE Lock and IE Closed are set to 1.
I do
Lock/Unlock and then Cancel
go back to the sensor information
for a second the two variables are set to 0 but then turn to 1 immediately.

This morning we thought about something else:
The tape library has 60 slots from which 12 belong to the mailbox. Is
that right ? I don't know however which are the mailbox slots.
What do I have to write in the Available slots field in Networker ? At
the moment we have in this field 1-59, and slot 60 is set as a cleaning
slot. Could that be the problem ? Should I only have 48 slots as
availabel slots (and which ones) ?

Thanks

Hilde
