the GUI in Networker 7.3 is NOT NMC 3.1. It has had some enhancements.
 
Would you like to tell us where you find NMC lacking, maybe those of us who are 
in the 7.3 beta can help you.

I've been told that with NW 7.3 we *must* use NM Console, NW Admin will
no longer be an option.

Since I've said many times that the console needs a LOT of work, I've
opened a half dozen cases for RFE's to Legato.

If you depend on Admin to do your work and (like me) find the Console
lacking, open cases.
