I'll try and find out more.
I was unclear whether it was a client or server thing. I presumed the new
client.
We definitely didn't get it with Netware client 4.22 and server 7.1.2, and we
definitely didn't get it with 4.22 and 7.2.1.
It wasn't until I updated to the 7.2 client for Netware that I started seeing
the message in the logs.
So it does seem a bit odd that it was first mooted for Legato 6.

Obviously one of us has been given duff info by EMC :-(

While talking to support about a different backup issue (one of my
volumes is backup up multiple times... I think it isn't successful, but
there is no indication of the problem... anyway), I asked them about
LGTpa55344 because my log files show a lot of the path too long as well,
he checked it and said that LGTpa55344 is an old FTE put in for Legato
6, and the results were that they were not going to fix it.

Of course I told him that I am getting it with 7, and I want,
correction need/require/demand that it be fixed.

Hi
Have just heard that there's a 'request for enhancement' (LGTpa55344)
with engineering for a fix for this problem of 'path too long' when
backing up with the Netware 7.2 client.

Not clear yet whether this will also address the problem with long file
names containing utf8 characters as posted here last week.

Cheeers... Allan.
