Eddie,

Although I cannot quote too much from the final report generated, we were
actually looking at TEKtools for reporting NetApp protection mechanisms (ie
SnapVault/SnapMirror to Tape etc), so did not concentrate too much on its
handling of Legato, as almost immediately we could see that it did what we
wanted...

Anyway, I just copied a couple of the Legato relevant sections that are quite
positive regarding TEKtools.

Comment 1

"As soon as a Legato server is setup to be monitored by TekTools, the Main
Console screen starts to provide summary information about the overall status
of the backup services (see figures A1, A8 and A10-A15 in Appendix A).

As can be seen in the figures, a huge amount of information is known and
understood about a Legato environment, and there is a high degree of
understanding of the inherent relationships between clients, filesystems
(savesets) and backup servers by TekTools in the legacy environment. In the
event there are problems with these relationships, alerts and events are
generated in a manner that would make problem resolution obvious to any service
representative.

Also, as backup servers and clients can be grouped together in TekTools
according to a company's specific organization (see section 5.4), it makes it
easy to create specific views of clients grouped together for logical reasons -
ie. Region, Group etc."

Comment 2

"With the legacy infrastructure, TekTools can off-the-shelf, monitor the
protection environment and understand the inner workings of the core
application (Legato). This makes for an intuitive interface for understanding
operational activity within the service. It has been designed to allow logical
relationships between clients and servers to be introduced, which in turn allow
reports to be produced in an organization friendly manner."

Anyone have experience with the Profiler for Legato Networker found at
TEK-TOOLS?

https://www.tek-tools.com/products/legato.jsp

Are there any other tools out there?
