All,

I have been experiencing drive problems since I can remember. I have
replaced a lot of drives, but I'm never quite sure if it's the drive,
the tape, or the software.

I'm running 6.1.4 on a Solaris Server connected to an ATL-P7000 library.
The drive in question is an SDLT 220.

I got these errors in the logs:

08/13/05 07:16:03 nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/37cbn opening: I/O error
08/13/05 07:16:03 nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/37cbn reading: read open
error,
I/O error
08/13/05 07:16:04 nsrd: /dev/rmt/37cbn Eject operation in progress
08/13/05 07:20:05 nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/37cbn opening: I/O error
08/13/05 07:20:39 nsrd: Jukebox 'ATL-P7000' failed: expected volume
'FNQ688' got 'NULL'.

The drive then goes into service mode.

Any idea what could cause this? This drive is new (or at least
refurbished) and has even had a cleaning tape run through it. The tapes
seems to load, verify label, and mount fine on another SDLT drive.

Thanks,
Brian
