You say you only have one HBA in the server ? AFAIK EMC doesn't support
tape and disk on the same HBA, but more to the point, if that's the case you
are using the same resource to read from disk and push to tape.

If you can, at an additional HBA just for tape and see what happens.

Emuex 10000-E and mcdata switches. Yeah Navi agent is installed and also
access logix. Switches are zoned and there is only one HBA in the server.

What type of HBA cards and what type of SAN switch do you have? Are you
running access-logix in Navisphere? Are the switches zoned? what speed are
the fibre hba's running at?

Subject: [Networker] Slowness of backups

Hi,

Here is my problem. I have a Clariion CX500 connected to a Windows 2003
server that has a 2Tb filesystem. I have 2 x LTO3 fiber drives that are
also directly connected to the windows server via the SAN. The windows
server does not have anti virus installed or any third party apps. When I
run a test backup on the C: of the server I get over 60MB/S throughput.
When I run a backup on the E: (which is SAN attached) I only get 25 MB/s.
The parallelism is set to 16 and 8 on each drive. If someone knows why I am
only getting 25 MB/S and how I can increases this performance please let me
know. These a flat files that are being backed up that have no i/o on the
them at the time of the tests.

Thanks

Raph
