David,

We had a problem about a year and a half ago, and this is what Legato sent
to me, and if my memory serves me, then this did work. They wanted to see
information that was on a tape, and I had to send the file (tapecheck.txt)
to them. (the -i was rebuilding indexes, so adjust the command
appropriately).

scanner -ivn \\.\Tape0 >tapecheck.txt 2>&1

Hope this helps.

Is there a way to pipe a scanner command to a text file? I want to scan
the savesets and record/file markers.

I tried

scanner -vvvvvv \\.\Tape6 > text.txt
scanner -vvvvvv \\.\Tape6 >> text.txt
scanner -vvvvvv \\.\Tape6 2>&1 text.txt

But no luck. I writes the final couple of lines but not all of the
output
