I talked to Support also. The engineer is going to call me back, but he
thinks it's something that is currently an RFE that managed to sneak into
the distribution.

I tried a similar kind of backup: save -M 4 -bsomePool /some/filesystem
and found that it split up /some/filesystem into four streams and then
backed up all four to a single tape -- sort of pointless IMHO.

So then I tried reducing the target sessions for four of my drives to 1,
and re-ran the command. I found that I was able to back up the 167GB
filesystem in 3 hours, as opposed to about 11, so that's pretty cool.

I guess one could write a little script to set the target sessions to 1,
then perform the save -M, then reset them back to their previous value.

Well I ran a save -M 2 on a directory. It makes 2 ssids on the tape and
the nwadmin gui showed 2 sessions. I'm not sure how it split it up..I
see one is slighly larger in size.

It seems like a profound feature..I'll ask Legato why its not used.
