I think they are actually referring to a "Legato" administrator.

Make sure that the service / user account trying to run backups / mount tapes 
etc is in the Legato Administrators field on your backup server (something like 
*@netapphost) should do.

I retested again, but now I only wanted to mount a tape on the NDMP
device of the snapimage client (so no backup was tried.)

I found out that a NDMP tape server license was needed, but the
following errror mesage still remained

nsrmmd #93: NDMP Service Error: E: License check failed: user
SYSTEM on machine gatbdata is not on administrator list


the service of NDMP tape server on the snapimage client (gatbdata) was
started using local system account. when I changed this to an account
that has administrators rights (SMALSSC), the following message appeared
in the daemon.log

nsrmmd #93: NDMP Service Error: E: License check failed: user
SMALSSC on machine gatbdata is not on administrator list

we tried with different administrators, but none worked.

what rights are needed? 
which user starts in your case the NDMP service?

situation:
clustered backup server (backupbs1)on 2 solaris server version 7.1A00
(OEM version of FSC, is the same as 7.1.3) a windows 2003 dedicated
storage node (gatbdata) with millions of little files. version 7.1.3
ndmp tape server 2.0.1 and snapimage 2.0.1 is installed on gatbdata all
configurations are done following the admin guide of snapimage -raw
cache device -backup command: ndmp_save -T image -remote user and
password who are local admin on the dedicated storage node -*@gatbata is
a networker administrator
*@* is in the remote access field of gatbdata -NDMP device with the same
remote user and password

normal file backups work perfectly (as client and as dedicated storage
node to a non-NDMP device)

problem:
which licenses are required?
do we need to use the license manager or can we enter them in networker?
how can we make snapimage work?

I tried using the following temp license:
Snapimage for windows
NDMP connection client
NDMP tape server

I still receive errror messages (see below). theses errors appear when
I've entered the 3 licenses in networker itself. If I enter them in the
license manager (not on the backup server), I receive errors about
different version of license managers.

does anybody have experience with this module?
