Hi,

In the same vein as the "Speed of networker backups to disk" thread, we are
using the disk backup option to write to a Netapp R200, and feel that our
performance could be better (average 10MB / second)

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of using this device for disk
backups, and if anyone has any hints or tips in getting the optimum
configuration for perfromance.

We have 10 disk shelves, each with 14 274 GB ATA disks. We use raid 4 DP and
have 4 volumes of 6TB and 1 of 5TB . The volumes are further divided into
2TB luns (3 luns per 6TB volume and 2 luns on the 5TB volume). These are SAN
attached via a Brocade 3800 switch to two Solaris storage nodes and one
Solaris Backup server.

If anyone has any experience of using Netapp hardware for disk backups, or
if anyone has any comments on our configuration, then I'd be keen to hear
from you.

Many Thanks,

Stephen
