I'm not sure how fast your AIT drives can go but I would think 9 of them
can consume a gigabit connection.

Sun had a couple of papers on gigabit:

One can conclude that SUN gigabits require plenty of CPU. Still if you add
up the rate of all the drives writing (iostat -xcn 5  |grep rmt) you may
find its close to a 1000 Mbits/sec.


I used a script off Sun's site that gives the troughput on the NIC at
a brief moment (-rbs option ):
