Yes but it will do more than just adding this volume. You could run
mmrecov and then nsrck -L7 but there will be many other effects. It will
also restore the media database and indices for all other tapes back to
the time of your last bootstrap and index backups, and will leave you
out of step with the real state of your physical tapes. I wouldn't
recommend it for just one tape.
Scanner is your best option, what do you have against using it?
