Do you do differentials?  Or do you just do Fulls every week?

Brian:

We resolved this issue by performing the off-site copy of the Full
backup
just prior to the normal Full backup that we run. So when you run a
restore, the restore will ask for the full copy that you have on hand,
not
your off-site copy. We stopped cloning due to the excess time in
producing
our off-site copy.
