Ray,

The last time I had this problem, it was a bad drive cable.
Hope this helps!

Subject: [Networker] Tapes being marked as full with hardly any data

I'm running networker 7 which controls a Sun L25 SDLT320 autoloader. I have
been using it for more than a year now without problems. I recently have had
a problem with my tapes getting marked as full after only 2-5GB had been
written to them. I noticed errors had been logged about the tape device.
Here is the output:

01/12/05 23:07:53 nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/0cbn writing: I/O error, at
file

 60 record 1788

01/12/05 23:07:53 nsrd: media notice: sdlt320 tape FTY310S1 on /dev/rmt/0cbn
is

full

01/12/05 23:07:53 nsrd: media notice: sdlt320 tape FTY310S1 used 5625 MB of
160

GB capacity

01/12/05 23:12:36 nsrd: media notice: Volume "FTY310S1" on device
"/dev/rmt/0cbn

": Cannot decode block. Verify the device configuration. Tape positioning by
rec

ord is disabled.

Is this a tape drive problem? Anyone now how to debug this or have nay
suggestions?

Any help is appreciated.
