[Networker] two questions
2004-11-12 10:56:30
I have a few basic questions and am still fuzzy after searching the web...
1. I am looking for a little help w/ finding which volumes are needed for a
restore. I would like to be able to run a command to find the volumes needed to
restore dirs/files on a particular host on a particular date. My thoughts were
to use mminfo but am not sure about the syntax.
I tried this...
(neptsbak1)/ # mminfo -a -c neptslux -t'11/06/04' | grep full
NEW056 neptslux 11/06/04 42 GB full /u1/luminx
NEW057 neptslux 11/06/04 78 GB full /u1/luminx
NEW058 neptslux 11/06/04 35 GB full /u1/luminx
NEW058 neptslux 11/06/04 1087 MB full /opt
NEW059 neptslux 11/06/04 30 GB full /u1/luminx
NEW059 neptslux 11/06/04 818 MB full /users
NEW060 neptslux 11/06/04 22 GB full /u1/luminx
NEW060 neptslux 11/06/04 1155 MB full /
NEW060 neptslux 11/06/04 2743 MB full /var
Where 11/6/04 is my weekly full backup. The output just seems to list
too many tapes. To confirm [and not sure if this is the right way] I used
nwadmin to view "save set clone" and selected the date 11/6/04 and only
the following volumes were listed...
neptslux NEW060 11/06/04 full /
neptslux NEW058 11/06/04 full /opt
neptslux NEW057 11/06/04 full /u1/luminx
neptslux NEW059 11/06/04 full /users
neptslux NEW060 11/06/04 full /var
Currently this is very painful since I run the recover command changetime and
check which volume.
2. How do I use the recover command to restore data from one server to another
server. I am thinking this needs to be run on the host which is getting the
restore.
The problem is the dircetory structure is different.
recover -s <networkerserver> -c <client> -d<destinationhost> directory to browse
Thanks in advance....
Steve
