Hi Ramamurthy,

An EMC DL300 or DL700 will be seen as a tape library as well. It can emulate
several different tape libraries. You can then connect a real physical
library to it so you can export physical tapes for off-site storage.

Subject: [Networker] Disk backup opinions

Hi All

I know the fact that Quantum DX100 disk array is treated as a "jukebox"
by Legato. Quantum claims that there would be little configuration
changes to NetWorker on deploying this. My questions are:

1. Is there any other disk array box that can be seen by a backup
software as a tape library? Or is it "Quantum" unique?

2. Which one's a better option - letting NetWorker treat the box as a
jukebox or forcing it to see the box as a disk partition and then using
"file" device type to backup to it? The first option apparently does'nt
require much changes to existing configuration. Whereas I reckon, we
can save some cost by not buying the Autochanger Module of Legato
because its seeing it as a large HDD chunk?

Answers with any other added opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Rgds, Ram.
