Robert,

My Legato system has logged errors because it attempted to unload a
cleaning cartridge while the drive is still being cleaned. Of course, that
was under 5.0.x.

I always found the sleep values to be a trial and error thing. Some
lightly
loaded servers work fine with the defaults, other more heavily loaded
servers seem to need tweaking. No guidance seems to be given from the
library/tape drive vendors or Legato (except when you call with mount type
problems).

For the cleaning sleep value; I've seen unload retrys while it is cleaning.
Would it be safe to say that one may be able to watch with a stop watch
a drive being cleaned, then set the sleep time to the total amount of time
it takes to clean on drive? This would then guarrantee the software
doesn't unload it while its being cleaned. As you said, the value could be
quite high. Are the unload retries really hurting anything while it is
being cleaned?
