I have the same symptoms and have been trying to fix it since March.
Removing the "bad" tapes from use is about all that I have found that
works.

Same here, no SAN. Server is Solaris 8 running 7.1.2 to a SCSI attached
DLT7k jukebox. We started having problems last week with i/o errors
(sometimes coinciding with /var/adm/messages scsi errors, but not
always,) and tapes marking full prematurely. I had a ticket open with
Legato for a bit, but because of the scsi errors and noticable problems
with the jukebox, I wrote it off as hardware.

What are everyone else's symptoms, and what are they doing to fix them?
