It does for a particular thing (checking that the last data in a session
or on a volume was saved to tape properly). It is not full-on recover
checking. Do a clone if you want that.

Is what associated with? AMV isn't associated with data, its an action
performed on data, so it's not stored in the media database.

I think the V just says that the session was "validated". If it had
failed the validation, then it would have failed on the whole and you'd
get an error.

Correct. Truly nothing can be a guarantee, as tapes do go bad after the
save is done from time to time.
