In regard to: [Networker] Corrupt database issues. A little guidance...:

Here's my environment:

Server: Win2k SP4 running Networker 6.2
Storage Node: Red Hat 7.2 running Networker 6.1.2
Library: ADIC Scalar 1000 w/ 4 SDLT 220 drives
Client OSes: Windows (NT/2000/XP), UNIX (Red Hat(various), SCO
Unixware, Solaris)

When we were using NetWorker 6.1.1, we had a few instances of inexplicable
media database corruption. The scavenge procedure wouldn't always fix it,
so I sometimes had to resort to mmrecov. See my email to this list on
August 30th of 2002, with "can't fetch old volume" in the Subject.

Either the upgrade to 6.1.2 or perhaps 6.1.3 seems to have fixed the
problem. We've had no more instances of media database corruption since
updating. We do have problems with occassionally getting duplicate
volumes after a tape is manually relabelled with a different label, but
that's a lesser problem.

I know that v6.2 was a special release for windows, and despite the
version number it's not "later than" at least some of the releases in the
6.1.x series. I don't know where the 6.2 codebase forked from the
standard 6.1.x (or 6.0.x?) codebase, so it's possible that 6.2 has a close
relation to 6.1.1.

We don't have any NetWorker servers running on Windows, so I don't know
what your upgrade options would be from 6.2, but if it's possible to
go to 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 from 6.2 without loosing whatever feature it was that
6.2 has that warranted a special release, I would consider trying that.
